    What it is

Settings is the one page that holds every choice about how your business runs in Joby — your company details, who is on the team, your phone numbers, your services, your estimate documents, and your bill. Everything on it is grouped into seven areas so you are never scrolling through one long list.

At the top of the page you get a search box and a My Account block. Below that come the groups: Business, People, Channels, Pipeline, Quotes & Docs, Connections & AI, and Admin.

    1. Search settings

Type any word — "tax", "phone", "commission" — and the page filters down to the matching tiles. Fastest way in when you know what you want but not where it lives.

    2. "Finish setting up your account"

A banner with a count of what is still unfinished. Press Continue setup to open the Get set up checklist. It disappears on its own once nothing is left.

    3. My Account

Always at the top, always visible to everyone. Opens Account Settings — your own photo, display name, email and password.

    4. Status dots and tags

Every tile shows where it stands at a glance — see the colour key below.

    Reading the dots and tags

    • Green dot — Configured. Nothing to do here.
    • Amber dot — Action needed. Something important is missing.
    • Hollow (outlined) dot — Not configured yet. Optional, but worth a look.
    • Orange dot with a crown — Needs a paid plan. Clicking it explains the upgrade instead of opening the page.
    • "Required" tag — Joby will not work properly until this one is filled in.

The Settings page is a desktop screen. On a phone you get the More tab instead, which carries a short list: Billing & Plan, Integrations, Notifications, Company Info, Account Settings, and Tap to Pay on iPhone where it applies.

    When to use it

    • Your first week. Work top to bottom until the setup banner is gone.
    • Someone joins or leaves. Add, deactivate, or change what a person can see.
    • You add a service or a new place you work. New service types, new service areas.
    • Your messages or estimates need to change. Reusable text templates, terms, deposit and tax defaults, logo.
    • You want less manual work. Automatic follow-ups, reminders and alerts.
    • You want your books or calendar connected. QuickBooks, Xero, Square, Google Calendar and more.
    • Billing questions. Plan, usage and payment details.

If you only need to change your own photo, name, email or password, you do not need Settings at all — go straight to Settings›My Account›Account Settings.

    Before you start

    You need the right access

The Settings page needs the Settings permission — the account owner and anyone with the Admin role has it. Without it, Settings does not appear in the menu. Individual tiles have their own rules on top of that: some are admin-only, some are only shown when an add-on is switched on for your account.

    Have these to hand

Your legal business name and address, business hours, a logo file, the list of services you sell, the list of places you advertise, and the email address of everyone who needs a login.

    • You need at least one phone number before calls and texts work anywhere in Joby.
    • Sending business texts in the US also needs carrier registration — that is Settings›Channels›Phone Registration, and it is a paid-plan feature.
    • Some tiles only appear if the add-on is enabled on your account: Linked Companies, Extension Pool, External Lead Sources, Documents Hub, Service Plans and Tap to Pay on iPhone. If you expect one and cannot see it, contact support.

    Step-by-step

    1. Open Settings from the left sidebar. On the Modern theme, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Settings.
    2. If you see the Finish setting up your account banner, press Continue setup first. It walks you through the same items in a sensible order and tells you how many are left.
    3. Clear every tile tagged Required: Company Settings, Team Members, Phone Numbers, Service Types and Lead Statuses.
    4. Work through the rest group by group, in the order they appear on the page: Business, People, Channels, Pipeline, Quotes & Docs, Connections & AI, Admin.
    5. Inside each page, save as you go. Pages that use a pop-up to add something (service areas, ad sources, teams, payment methods, price book items) only keep the change when you press Save in that pop-up.
    6. Use the search box at the top of Settings whenever you come back later — it is quicker than remembering which group something lives in.

Tip: Get Service Types, Lead Statuses and Ad Sources right early. They become dropdown choices on every lead, filters on every list, and columns in every report — changing them later means re-tagging old work.

    How to check it worked

    1. Go back to Settings and look at the dot on the tile you just finished. It should now be green.
    2. Check the Finish setting up your account banner. The number next to it should have gone down, and the banner disappears entirely once everything is done.
    3. Create one test lead. Your new service type, lead status and ad source should all be selectable in the dropdowns.
    4. Send yourself a test text and place a test call to confirm the phone side is live.
    5. Open Settings›Estimate Settings›Pages & Terms. The Preview panel beside the editor shows the document exactly as your customer will see it, logo and terms included.
    6. Still unsure a change saved? Type the setting name into the Settings search box, reopen the page, and confirm the value is still there after a refresh.

    Common mistakes

Hunting for a name that has changed

    • "Job Types" is now Service Types (Pipeline group).
    • "Templates" is now Communication Templates (Pipeline group).
    • "Visual Workflows" is now Automations (Pipeline group).
    • There is no separate Field Workers page in Settings any more — office agents and field workers are both on Team Members.

Mixing up the two Custom Fields pages

Settings›Business›Custom Fields adds fields to clients and to leads in general. Settings›Pipeline›Service Types›Custom Fields adds fields that only appear for one kind of job. Adding a field in the wrong place is the usual reason it "doesn't show up".

    Editing yourself under Company Settings

Company Settings is your business. Your own name, photo, email and password are under Settings›My Account›Account Settings.

A tile you expected is not there

    • Your role may not allow that page — an admin can change this on Team Roles.
    • It may be an add-on that is not switched on for your account. Contact support to enable it.
    • It may need a paid or Pro plan — those tiles show an orange dot and a crown, and clicking them explains the upgrade rather than opening the page.

    Skipping Phone Registration

Buying a number is not enough to text US customers. Until Settings›Channels›Phone Registration is approved, carriers can block or filter your messages and you may never see a bounce.

    Closing a pop-up without saving

Service areas, ad sources, teams, payment methods and price book items are all added through a pop-up. Clicking outside the pop-up discards the entry — press Save first.

Note: Renaming or deleting a service type, lead status or ad source affects every lead and every report that already uses it. Rename with care, and prefer deactivating over deleting when you are unsure.

Not everyone sees the same tiles

A tile is hidden when your role cannot open the page behind it, when the add-on is not switched on for your account, or — for a second company sharing a parent's subscription — when billing is handled by the main company instead.
