What it is
Billing & Plan is the one page that answers "what am I paying for?". It shows the plan your company is on, how much you have spent on calls, texts and AI so far this month, your prepaid credit balance, every invoice we have issued, and the price list for each pay-as-you-go item.
Open it from Settings›Admin›Billing on a computer, or from More›Billing & Plan on your phone.
The page is split into five tabs:
Overview
The month's running total, any free usage you were given, and what is still owed.
Usage
Line-by-line breakdown of calls, texts, phone numbers and AI, with a month picker.
Invoices
Every invoice with its status, plus View and PDF links.
Credits
Your prepaid balance, the Add Credit button, and automatic top-ups.
Pricing
The current price of every pay-as-you-go item — call minutes, text segments, phone numbers, transcription and AI.
When to use it
- Your card was charged and you want to see what the charge was for.
- Texts, calls or AI features suddenly stopped working and you suspect a low balance.
- You need a PDF invoice for your bookkeeper.
- Your trial is ending and you want to start paying now instead of waiting.
- You want more features (automations, marketing campaigns, power dialer) and are comparing plans.
- You want to check whether a busy month is costing more than you expected.
- Your card expired and you need to put a new one on file.
Before you start
- You must be an owner or admin. Billing is admin-only. If you do not have admin access, Joby sends you back to the Dashboard when you try to open it, and the upgrade cards show "Ask your account admin or owner to upgrade the plan" instead of a button.
- Have a card ready. Starting a subscription, changing plans and adding credit all charge the card on file.
- Know which company you are in. If your company is linked to a primary company and shares its billing, this page only shows a note saying "Billing is managed by your primary company". Switch to the primary company to see invoices, change the plan or add credit.
- Give new usage a moment to appear. Calls, texts and AI land on this page a few seconds after they happen, and the page refreshes itself about every 30 seconds.
Step-by-step
Check what you owe right now
- Go to Settings›Admin›Billing.
- Read the Current plan card at the top: it shows your plan name, the monthly price, a status badge (Trialing, Active, Past Due or Canceled) and your current billing period dates.
- Stay on the Overview tab. The three cards there give you the short answer — see Usage and charges for what each one means.
Update your card or cancel
- Go to Settings›Admin›Billing.
- On the Current plan card, click Manage Billing & Payment. (While you are still in a trial the same button is labelled just Manage Billing.)
- Joby opens the secure payment page run by Stripe. There you can change the card on file, download receipts, update your billing address, and cancel the subscription.
- Close that page or use your browser's back button to return to Joby.
End your trial early and start paying
- Go to Settings›Admin›Billing.
- On the Current plan card, click Skip Trial & Pay Now. (If you never started a subscription at all, the button reads Start Subscription instead.)
- Finish the payment on the secure checkout page.
- You are brought back to a short Set up your credit balance screen — see Prepaid credit.
Download an invoice
- Go to Settings›Admin›Billing.
- Click the Invoices tab.
- Find the row you need, then click View to open it in your browser or PDF to download it.
Export your usage to a spreadsheet
- Go to Settings›Admin›Billing.
- Click the Usage tab and pick the month you want from the dropdown next to Usage Breakdown.
- Click Export CSV (top right, next to the tabs). A spreadsheet downloads with a Category, Quantity, Unit, Rate and Charged column for every line, a Free Usage (Included in Plan) line if you got one, and an Amount Due row at the bottom.
How to check it worked
- Started a subscription or changed plan: the Current plan card shows the new plan name and price, and the badge reads Active.
- Added credit: a success message shows the new balance, the Credit Balance figure goes up, and a Manual top-up row appears in Transactions.
- Turned on automatic top-ups: the line under the balance reads "Auto-reload: $… when balance falls below $…" instead of "Auto-reload is off".
- Updated your card: the red past-due bar disappears, and the next invoice in the Invoices tab shows Paid.
- Exported usage: the downloaded spreadsheet opens with a Category column and an Amount Due row at the bottom.
- Checked usage after a call or text: wait up to a minute — the page refreshes itself and the quantity goes up.
Common mistakes
- Looking at the wrong month. The month dropdown on the Usage tab stays where you left it and also changes the Overview numbers. If a total looks wrong, check the month label next to the tabs first.
- Expecting the plan period and the usage month to match. They do not. Your plan renews on your sign-up anniversary; usage is reported per calendar month.
- Thinking the trial is free forever. During a trial all usage appears as Free Usage. Once you start paying, the same activity costs money — check the Pricing tab before a big campaign.
- Setting the top-up trigger too low. If your balance falls below the trigger only moments before it runs out, a declined card leaves you with no texts or calls. Keep a comfortable gap.
- Cancelling from inside the payment page and expecting instant changes. A scheduled cancellation shows as a Cancels {date} badge and you keep access until that date.
- Asking a non-admin to do it. Only owners and admins can open Billing, upgrade the plan or add credit.
- Looking for billing on a linked company. If billing is shared, change it on the primary company instead.
- Deleting phone numbers to save money without checking the plan. Your plan already includes some numbers for free — the Pricing tab tells you how many.

Plans and upgrades
Joby has four plans, plus one optional bundle that includes usage:
- Joby Free Plan — $0.00 per month. Limited access.
- Joby Starter Plan — $89.00 per month. 2 phone numbers included.
- Joby Pro Plan — $129.00 per month. 5 phone numbers included.
- Joby Enterprise Plan — custom price for multi-location companies. 50 phone numbers included.
- Joby Pro Growth — $250.00 per month. Everything in Pro, plus a monthly pot of included usage.
Upgrading to Joby Pro
On the Billing page you will see a Joby Pro card with an Upgrade to Pro button (it reads Start Pro Plan if you do not have a subscription yet). Pro adds workflow automations, Joby AI and Joby Agent replies, email and SMS marketing campaigns, and the power dialer, with unlimited users and priority support. If you are already paying, Stripe works out the price difference for the rest of the month for you.
Pro Growth: usage included in the price
The Pro Growth card has a Start Pro Growth button (or Add Pro Growth if you are already on Pro). It includes 2,000 call minutes, 3,000 text segments, 500 AI agent minutes and 2,000 Joby AI / Agent uses each month. Those pots are used up first; only what you use beyond them comes out of your prepaid credit. Plans purchased before August 2026 keep their original price and included-usage amounts — the numbers on this page describe the current catalog. When Pro Growth is active, an Included Usage card appears on the Overview tab with a progress bar and a "left" badge for each pot, and an Included Monthly Usage table appears on the Pricing tab.
Both upgrade cards are only clickable for owners and admins. Enterprise customers do not see the upgrade cards — talk to us instead.
If Joby has granted you Pro features at no extra charge, the plan name carries a Granted badge and a note telling you which plan you are actually paying for. If a cancellation is scheduled, a Cancels {date} badge appears and you keep access until that date.
Usage and charges
Pay-as-you-go items are anything charged by the minute, the message or the number. They are counted automatically as you work — you do not have to record anything.
The Overview cards
- Period Total — everything the selected month has used so far. On accounts that run on prepaid credit this card is replaced by Credit Balance, showing how much credit you have left.
- Free Usage — only appears when something was free. During a trial all usage is free and this card shows the whole amount as a discount. After the trial it covers the phone numbers included in your plan.
- Amount Due — what is still owed at the end of the period. If some of it was already collected, the small text underneath says so. This card is hidden on accounts that run on prepaid credit, because usage is paid for as it happens.
The Usage tab
The Usage Breakdown table lists one row per category with the quantity, the rate and the total. The little i icon next to some categories explains what that charge covers. The categories you may see are:
- Local Inbound Calls, Toll-Free Inbound Calls and Outbound Calls — charged per minute.
- Call Transfers (Extra Leg) — when you transfer a live call, the second call that dials the new person is charged per minute on top of the original call.
- Masked Calls — calls placed through a masked number, charged per minute.
- SMS — texts in and out are counted together, charged per segment. A long text counts as more than one segment.
- Local Phone Numbers and Toll-Free Phone Numbers — a monthly fee per number you keep, beyond the ones your plan includes.
- Live Transcription — live text of a call while it is still happening, charged per minute.
- Call Transcription — text written up from a recorded call afterwards, charged per minute of audio.
- Joby Agent Calls — calls answered by Joby Agent, charged per minute. Older records from when these were charged per call show as "AI Agent Calls (legacy)".
- AI Actions — AI estimates, conversation suggestions and call summaries, charged per action.
- Joby AI Chat — charged per message you send to the Joby AI assistant.
Underneath the table you may also see a Free Usage (Included in Plan) (or Free Trial Usage) line, a Mid-Cycle Already Charged line for amounts already collected, and an Amount Due at End of Period total.
Usage runs on calendar months, your plan does not. Your plan is billed on the anniversary of the day you signed up, but usage is reported January 1–31, February 1–28 and so on, because it is easier to compare month to month. The month dropdown on the Usage tab goes back 12 months, and whichever month you pick also drives the numbers on the Overview tab.
Charges collected before the end of the month
If your usage climbs during a period, Joby may collect part of it early instead of leaving one large bill at the end. Those collections are listed in a Mid-Cycle Charges card on the Overview tab with the date and amount, and they are subtracted from what you still owe. This card does not appear on accounts that run on prepaid credit.
Prepaid credit
Most accounts now pay for calls, texts and AI from a prepaid balance instead of a bill at the end of the month. Open the Credits tab to manage it. If your account has not been moved over yet, the tab shows a note saying credits are not enabled and nothing else here applies to you.
Add credit
- Go to Settings›Admin›Billing›Credits.
- Click Add Credit on the Credit Balance card.
- Pick one of the preset amounts or type your own in Or custom amount (USD). The minimum is $20.
- Click Charge $…. Your card on file is charged straight away and a receipt is emailed to you.
Turn on automatic top-ups
- Go to Settings›Admin›Billing›Credits.
- Click Auto-reload.
- Switch on Enable Auto-reload.
- Set Reload amount (USD) — at least $20.
- Set When balance falls below (USD) — at least $10, so the top-up happens before you run out.
- Tick the authorisation box, then click Save.
What happens if you run out
Calls, texts and AI do not stop the moment you hit zero — they stop at a small negative floor (−$5 on most accounts). Everything else in Joby keeps working: clients, jobs, estimates, invoices, reports, email and the calendar. If automatic top-ups fail on your card several times in a row you will see an Auto-reload failures detected warning, and after five failures automatic top-ups switch themselves off until you fix the card and turn them back on.
Reading your credit history
The Transactions for {month} table lists money coming in and going out, 25 rows per page. Each row is labelled Starter credit, Manual top-up, Auto-reload, Usage, Refund, Adjustment or Reversal. By default the individual usage deductions are hidden, because there is one for every text and every call minute — tick Include usage rows if you want to see them.
The credit setup screen
Just after you start paying, Joby shows a Set up your credit balance screen where you choose a starting amount and, optionally, turn on automatic top-ups. You can click Skip for now and add credit later from the Credits tab.
Invoices and receipts
The Invoices tab lists your 50 most recent invoices, newest first. Zero-dollar invoices are hidden so you only see real charges. Each row shows:
- Invoice — the invoice number.
- Period — the dates the invoice covers.
- Type — what it was for, such as a plan charge, usage or a credit top-up.
- Amount — the total.
- Status — Paid, Invoiced, Unpaid, Failed or Void.
- Date — when it was issued.
- Actions — View opens the invoice, PDF downloads it.
Before your first billing cycle finishes, the tab simply says "No invoices yet". For older invoices beyond the 50 shown, use Manage Billing & Payment.
The price list
The Pricing tab holds a Usage Pricing table with the current rate for every pay-as-you-go item — call minutes, transfers, masked calls, text segments, local and toll-free numbers, live transcription, Joby Agent calls, call transcription, AI actions and Joby AI chat. The spoken voice used for your phone menu and voicemail greetings is included at no charge. Each row shows the rate, the unit it is charged in, and a short note. The phone number rows also tell you how many numbers are already included in your plan, for example "2 free with Joby Starter Plan".
Prices are kept up to date centrally, so this table is always the correct one to quote.
Add-ons and linked companies
Live Tracking add-on
If your plan includes live worker tracking, a Live Tracking card appears next to your plan card. It is billed per worker per month and shows Enabled seats (how many workers you have switched on), the Monthly add-on total, and how many days of detailed route history are kept. You turn workers on and off in the tracking settings, not here — this card only reports what you are being charged for.
If your company is linked to another company in Joby, one of two things happens:
- Shared billing — the Billing page shows only a note: "Billing is managed by your primary company". The primary company carries the plan, the included usage and the credit. Switch to it to change anything.
- Separate billing — the linked company has its own subscription and its own Billing page, exactly like a standalone company.
When a payment fails
- A red bar across the top of Joby means your subscription payment did not go through. It tells you the date by which you need to fix it before your account and phone service are limited, and it has an Update payment button that takes you straight to the secure payment page.
- An amber or red bar about credit means your prepaid balance is low or gone. Click Add credit in the bar — it opens the Credits tab with the top-up box already open.
- A "Payment could not be completed" pop-up can appear when you start a subscription or change plans. Your current plan does not change until the payment goes through. Use Use another card to switch cards, or Try again to retry the same one.
For anything you cannot solve on the page, the bottom of the Billing page lists the billing contact: Invoice@joby.io, Joby CRM LLC, 1180 South Beverly Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90035, US.
