    What it is

Signing up for Joby creates your company workspace. Instead of a plain email-and-password form, Joby walks you through seven screens that collect your business details, verify your phone number, start your free trial, and then set up your business phone number, email sending address, and call routing for you.

When those screens are done you have a working account. A separate Get set up checklist inside the app then walks you through the remaining items — your services, your team, your lead sources — that only you can decide.

    When to use it

    • You are creating a brand-new Joby account for your business.
    • You started signing up, closed the tab, and want to pick up where you left off.
    • You finished signing up and want to know what to configure first.

If someone already invited you to an existing Joby company, do not sign up here. Open the invitation email you received and follow the link in it — signing up separately would create a second, empty company instead of joining theirs.

    Before you start

Have these ready before you begin — the signup screens ask for all of them:

    • Your business name and your own full name.
    • An email address you can open right now. Joby sends a verification link to it partway through.
    • A mobile phone you can receive a text on. Joby texts you a 6-digit code and will not let you continue until you enter it.
    • Your business address. This is required, and it is used for your invoices, estimates, and customer messages.
    • A payment card. The trial screen sends you to a secure checkout to verify the card. Nothing is charged on the day you sign up.
    • A password of 10 characters or more that does not contain your name, company name, email, or phone number.

    Tip

Use your business email address. It becomes the admin login for the whole company, and your team will recognise it when you invite them.

    Step-by-step: the seven signup screens

A progress bar at the top of the page shows which screen you are on. You can go back a screen at any point before checkout without losing what you typed.

    1. Create your account

Company and admin details, plus phone verification by text.

    2. Business profile

Address, industry, team size, timezone, preferred area code.

    3. Start your free trial

Secure card check. $0 charged today.

    4. Verify your email

Click the link in your inbox, then come back and press Continue.

    5. Setting up your workspace

Joby builds your phone, email, and call routing while you watch.

6–7. Company profile, then You're all set

Details for your paperwork, then the button into the app.

Screen 1 — Create your account

The form on the right is headed Company & admin details. Fill in:

    • Company name — required.
    • Full name — required. Your own name, not the company's.
    • Admin email — required. Some accounts are set to accept work email addresses only; if so, the label says (work email only).
    • Phone number — required. Type your mobile number, then click Send Code. Enter the 6-digit code you receive and click Verify. A green Verified label replaces the button when it works. If the text does not arrive, click Resend code.
    • Password and Confirm password — required, 10 characters or more.

Tick the agreement checkbox at the bottom — the Continue button stays greyed out until you do. You can also use Continue with Google or Continue with Apple instead of setting a password; you still have to verify your phone number.

    Screen 2 — Business profile

This screen sets up your workspace, your local number, and what appears on invoices and customer messages. Business address, Industry, and Team size are required — the Continue button stays greyed out until all three are filled in.

    • Website — optional.
    • Business address — start typing and pick your address from the suggestions; City, State, and ZIP fill in automatically.
    • Preferred area code — optional. Type a 3-digit area code such as 212, 305, or 415 to get a number local to that area. Leave it blank and Joby picks a number for you.
    • Industry — required. Pick the closest match to what your business does.
    • Team size — required. Choose 1–2, 2–5, 6–15, 16–50, or 50+.
    • Timezone — Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska, or Hawaii.

Screen 3 — Start your free trial

This screen shows your plan, how many free days you get, and what you would pay per month afterwards. It states $0 charged today. Click Continue to secure checkout to verify your card. Payment is handled by Stripe on their own page, and you will see the same $0-today confirmation there before the trial starts. You are brought straight back to Joby afterwards.

Screen 4 — Verify your email

Joby emails a verification link to the admin email address you entered. Open your inbox (check the spam folder too), click the link, then return to the Joby tab and press Continue. If you typed the wrong address, this screen has a link to change it before you go any further.

Screen 5 — Setting up your workspace

Nothing to do here — just wait. A progress bar fills in as Joby ticks off six items:

    • Creating organization — your company workspace.
    • Setting up phone system — buying and configuring your business number.
    • Configuring email — your sending address.
    • Setting up call routing — your first call group.
    • Configuring dialer — the default numbers your team dials out from.
    • Creating call flow — how inbound calls are handled.

If something goes wrong you get a Retry button rather than a dead end.

    Screen 6 — Company profile

These details appear on your estimates, invoices, and customer messages: Company legal name, Website, Business phone, and Street address (required) with City, State, and ZIP. Click Save & continue.

    Screen 7 — You're all set

The final screen confirms your trial is active and lists what was created for you — your new Phone number, Email address, Call group, and Team. Click Go to dashboard to enter the app.

    Your account exists now

Where you land depends on what your account is allowed to see — for a business owner that is normally the Dashboard.

    How to check it worked

    1. You reached the app. After clicking Go to dashboard you land inside Joby rather than back on the signup screens.
    2. You have a phone number. Open Phone Numbers from the menu — your new number is listed there, and it also appeared on the "You're all set" screen.
    3. Your company details are saved. Go to Settings›Company Settings and confirm your name, address, and phone are what you entered.
    4. Your checklist is shrinking. Go to Settings — the "Finish setting up your account" banner shows a count of items left, and that number goes down as you complete them. When everything is done, the Get set up page reads "You're set up." and the banner disappears.
    5. Your team got in. On Settings›Team Members, invited people move from Pending Invite to Active once they accept.
    6. Create a test lead. Open Leads and click + New Lead. If your Service Types, Lead Statuses, and Ad Sources are configured, the dropdowns on that form are populated rather than empty.

    Common mistakes

Signing up when you were invited

If a colleague invited you, use the link in their invitation email. Going through signup instead creates a brand-new, empty company that is not connected to theirs.

    The password keeps getting rejected

Joby needs at least 10 characters with a mix of upper case, lower case, numbers, and symbols. It also blocks passwords that contain your name, company name, email, or phone number, common words, keyboard runs like "qwerty", and passwords that have shown up in a known data leak. If yours is refused, try a short phrase with numbers and punctuation that has nothing to do with your business.

    The verification text never arrives

Check the number for typos, then click Resend code. The code is 6 digits. You cannot skip this step — Joby will not let you continue without it.

Signing back in with the wrong account

If you pay as one email address and then sign back in with a different one — easy to do when picking a Google account — Joby stops and tells you which address the payment belongs to. Sign out of the wrong account and sign back in as the address shown. Your payment is safe; nothing is lost.

You closed the tab partway through

Go back to the signup page and use the same email address. Joby remembers where you got to for about 24 hours and puts you back on the right screen. If you are told an account already exists but the password does not match, use Reset Password on that screen or Sign In Instead.

Calls work but text messages do not

That is almost always the carrier registration. Check Settings›Phone Registration — until it shows as approved, texts will not go out.

Reporting numbers look wrong on day one

Check the top of the screen for the orange sample-data bar. If it is there, your reports are counting the example records. Click Clear sample data first.

Clearing sample data cannot be undone

It removes the example jobs, clients, messages, calls, appointments, invoices, estimates, and tasks. That is exactly what you want before real work starts — just do not click it expecting to get the examples back.

    More detail (4)

Finish the Get set up checklist

Signup does not configure your services, your team, or your lead sources — only you can decide those. Joby tracks them on a checklist. Go to Settings and click the Finish setting up your account banner at the top, which shows how many items are still outstanding and opens the Get set up page.

The checklist is grouped into six sections. Items marked required are the ones that unlock calls and SMS; the rest fine-tune your setup. Status updates by itself as you configure each piece, so there is nothing to tick off manually.

    • Business Identity — Company details, Upload your logo, Service areas.
    • Your Team — Invite your team, Create a team, Subcontractors.
    • Services & Pipeline — Add your services, Lead pipeline stages, Lead sources.
    • Phones & SMS — Get a phone number, Set up inbound routing, Build a call flow, A2P 10DLC registration.
    • Quotes & Payments — Estimates & invoices portal, Payment methods.
    • Automation — Create an automation, Communication templates.

Each item links straight to the page that fixes it. The most common first stops are Settings›Company Settings (name, legal name, address, phone, business hours, and logo), Settings›Service Types (the kinds of jobs you do), Settings›Service Areas (where your team accepts work), and Settings›Ad Sources (where your leads come from).

Before you send your first text message

US phone carriers require every business to register before it can send text messages. That is the A2P 10DLC registration item under Phones & SMS, at Settings›Phone Registration. Calls work without it; texts do not. It is a paid-plan feature and approval is not instant, so start it early.

Invite your team and set what they can see

Go to Settings›Team Members, then click + Add Team Member. Joby emails an invitation, and the person shows as Pending Invite until they accept. If it never arrives, use Resend invite on their row.

The page has tabs for the three kinds of people you can add:

    • Office Agents — people who log in and work leads, calls, and messages from the office.
    • Field Workers — people who do the work on site. A login is optional; they can also be given a Field Worker Portal link instead.
    • External Subcontractors — outside contractors who do the work for you.

What each person can actually see and do is controlled by their Team Role, which you pick from the dropdown in that column on the Team Members table. You build and edit those roles at Settings›Team Roles — click New Role, give it a name such as Dispatcher, and switch individual permissions on or off. Joby ships with some built-in roles, including Field Worker; those cannot be renamed, but you can create as many of your own as you like.

The owner is a special case

Whoever created the account is the owner. Their row shows a crown and reads "Owner, full access", and their role cannot be changed or removed. Everyone else gets a Team Role you choose.

    The sample data banner

Some new accounts start with example jobs, clients, messages, calls, appointments, invoices, and estimates so the app is not empty while you learn it. When that is switched on, an orange bar sits across the top of the app reading "This workspace is using sample data."

None of it is real. Before you start entering real customers, click Clear sample data in that bar and confirm. The examples are removed and the bar disappears.

If you run more than one company

Each company you create in Joby keeps its own leads, clients, calls, messages, phone numbers, team members, and settings. People in one company cannot see anything belonging to another, and an invitation only applies to the company it was sent from — someone who needs access to two companies has to be invited to each one separately.

If your plan includes it, Settings›Linked Companies lets you create a second company under the same subscription and switch between them with the same owner login. Billing stays on the primary company, but each company sets up its own payments.
